Do you play the mud game new worlds if so what is your character name, and what do you think about the game?
I used to play, but don't play anymore, it was alright till the player wipe and all the changes

i go by riu. it's quite a cool game, though the only thing that anoys me is that you have to keep eating and drinking like in the real world or you can't move anywhere. the quests are good though. :)

ok guys i haven't been playing much the last week i was sick for a few days and with everything going on now with school been busy. lol i'll probably play a lot this weekend hopefully. i've missed a lot since i've not been on much lol.
so what guilds are your characters in and what do you think of it? my character sureenla is in the waylumi guild, and i like it. it fits how i wanted her to be.

Wouldn't count on it. The thieves guild is ridiculously over inflated and near impossible to get into. But hey, that's why I stopped playing.
I'm Gryph on there. Just signed up this weekend. And here I thought text games were out -- but this really is fun. Don't know what kind of time I'll put into it, as most gamers seem to be kids without all the responsibility yet, but this sounds like it'll be fun.
I have a question for experienced RPG players on here:
How much time a week is required by a particular player to keep the story alive? I mean, I find this game fascinating, but have never played one, and really don't want to spoil it for other players. Also, as I retain the information better if I use my Braille display, I tend to use it. That being said, I feel like sometimes I'm really lagging behind everyone else. I find this game to be quite an interesting challenge; far different from a FPS but an interesting challenge nonetheless. The only thing worries me some is that since it is live, it is possible to sort of wreck it for others if you can't keep up. I find I make a ton more typing mistakes when playing it than I usually do. Embarrassing when in chats ...
but how did you all get into it? And do you use speech or Braille? I try and use a combo. I found last night's tour to be really helpful.
Also do you use the GMud client? Do you find chat to get in the way of what's being displayed on the game screen? It tends to jump the Braille cursor away and then you gotta find your place again ... lol

this is kind of offtoppic, but when i first signed up to miriani i thought i'd really hate it as i never heard of mudding before. but, when i got going i started off logging on once in a few days, then once i got more in to what it was about, i started going on everyday.
now that i've played for a while, i can kind of leave for short times, still knowing what's going on in the game.
i think you should try go on everyday, just to keep up with the many storylines. it amazes me how much you can alter your mudding experience, you can make it as creative as you want.
Well what clients do you all use? I've used GMud and now VIP Mud - will have to pay for that eventually if I like it. Looks good and all; well worth the money as has been all GMA stuff I've bought in the past; it's just a matter of when I guess. I find I can go faster with speech though VIP Mud doesn't lose the cursor.
I also use V I P mud. i love it, too. i did try using monkey term before, but that never quite took off.
Yeah and I fully intend on buying it with birthday or Christmas money ...
monkey term is ok but VIP is the best

so I'm one of these people who plays muds a lot, but I also get tired of muds sometimes, and here I am at the stage where I'm looking for a new mud to play. Is new worlds newbie friendly, and on average how many players do you see? Also, how is their help system, are things fairly explanatory or do you guys find yourselfs having to ask others for help alot?
I checked it out last night, not the place for me. I dont like that whole intro bit. thats insanity, rp is cool but i just don't like there system. I play aardwolf though as jenni and talima.
caitlyn the system is great and inless you are very big on rpg it's not the place for you.

my character is engaged now which has made the Rp more interesting. lol well my first character that is sureenla. I think I'll quit playing meyiaina kinda got bored with her, but sureenla well very interesting lol :d. Sureenla takes a lot of my time so really don't have time for 2 characters. I've gotten sureenla so involved with her guild and other things lmao :d
I've quit New Worlds. I guess I'm not into the role play like some. An interesting complication arises when a character has a "love interest" or "puppy lust" interest - yeah I'm cynical - in yours. To me the relationship thing ruins the game. Not my thing. I think pursuing that, unless you're unattached, could have rather devastating consequences in one's relationship _/ marriage or whatever, and for what exactly? That's my take and I certainly don't blame the other player, that's just part of that game. I'll just play a different game. I now have been doing Valhalla and the web-based 1000AD strategy game at least for text-based things. Just my thoughts
well it's funny cause my characters bf in real life is married andhis wife thinks it's very very funny that his character has a gf lol. another couple i know both play but have different interests than their characters in the game lol :d it makes the rp more interesting to have a bf/gf
Not sayin I'm a prude or anything but one must respect the wishes of one's partner and I think it matters more perhaps the more time one has invested in a relationship. I've been married close to 17 years and know my wife's preferences, which basically do not include such. When we talked about it, she even pointed out that she had mixed feelings of role play games. To her it's more serious, ironically perhaps, like it is to those who are serious roleplayers, except for her she's not into it. Perhaps it's having been a teacher or seen things happen or whatever. for me, frankly, it was rather a lighthearted affair, just a game, like any FPS or other thing I've played.
As I said I'd never thought of potential relationships, and as I said I find romantic relationships to unnecessarily complicate the game although since RP appears to be a form of fiction creation, then why not. But you just have to consider what you want out of the game. I have no criticisms, I just opted out. I do, however, think that a fiction writer would probably get a considerable amount out of New Worlds, what whith character creation, writing your history, and a lot of other things I saw as hoops. It's all a matter of understanding the game, and of course, respecting who you're with.
I think these kinds of rp games are fun and great to play, however, I have to agree with the previous poster, I feel the seriousness of the rp especially if you think about getting into a relationship while you are with a partner is grounds for being unfaithful, and whether we like it or not if you really truly rp a little bit of you gets closer to this person even if it is just through your character. It just has too much grounds in my oppinion for something in an ooc relationship to go wrong if you rp'd a relationship in a game, and it became serious, especially if you played your game more than spending time with your significant other, that can cause issues.

I have had more than my fair share of rp relationships on muds and it is extremely rare that one or the other person doesn't start thinking that you are your character. Then the next thing you know, all of this wonderful rp you have had is ruined because all the other person thinks about is getting in to your e-pants. The last relationship that my character was in was with a fantastic rp partner who did not flip out or do any of that uncomfortable stuff which ruins the whole party.
There are plenty of circumstances where this can work and you find someone that is not insane, looking for greener grass, or who doesn't think that they own you. But now I shy away from those types of things like the plague. As for roleplaying, I am an avid roleplayer but have a difficult time getting in to New Worlds. The part that really sours it for me is the fact that there is such an emphasis on how people should roleplay, and yet if you want to join a guild you have to grind. I'm just looking for something a little different than that.
Anyhow, just thought I'd throw in my $.80...hey, inflation don'tchaknow!

newworlds if for those in to extreeme rp mika. the guilds can be a bitch to get in, but you deal with it the best you can. it takes work for sure.

I can't believe i'm about to write on here. I actually got introduced to Miriani two weeks ago, I don't have much time for MUDS, however i'm facinated by them. Can someone tell me more about this newworld thing? I use Monkey term do you have to pay for a better client? o and I've found other MUDS, but it keeps saying the internet explora can't display the page. I know the links are not broken why is it doing this? If someone could tell me, i'd appreciate it! Thanks.

a mud is a multi player interactive game.
you download a client, and then you play against other players in a bvariety of games. you can play them by yourself, but there really not as fun. they have everything from space adventures, valhalla, fighting to the slightly more interesting.
